About the Charity
Dilasa Janvikas Pratishthan is a Non Government Organization (NGO) that has been working for rural upliftment for last 17 years with a mission to give solace to the villagers by improving the condition of water, soil and vegetation along with the empowerment of women. Dilasa is committed to helping marginalized farmers, tribal, women and children of scheduled castes and disenfranchised backgrounds by facilitating social, economic and educational activities. The Aurangabad based organization spread it's reach to 2524 villages in the backward Marathwada, Vidarbha, Northern Maharashtra and Pune Regions. The water situation in Marathwada has been very critical in the last three years as the average rainfall didn't go beyond 300 mm. This has not only affected the farming but has also adversely affected availability of drinking water. Dilasa had created water harvesting structures to resolve this but most of those have gone dry due to lack of rainfall. This has made the situation alarming and government and charity organizations have plunged in to take up the relief work of facilitating drinking water to these households using water tankers. Under these circumstances the villagers need water storage tanks in their households in order to store this water for catering to their daily needs.
As a part of this initiative, YVO channelized the donation received for the month of September 2015 towards equipping landless and poor families in Godekhurd, which is the most distressed area in Kaiz block of Beed district, with 300 litre water tanks which will enable them to use this stored water for their daily needs. Drinking water facilitation for farmers in drought hit areas - These 117 water tanks bought with your Rs.300 will provide 117 families from 2 villages with water storage facility in their households.
