About the Charity
RightWalk Foundation (RWF) provides access to 10 years of free quality schooling to children from vulnerable communities through the RTE 12.1.(c) policy. RTE 12.1.(c) mandates reservation of 25% seats in entry-level class for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and disadvantaged group children in private schools. RWF has prioritized social inclusion since its inception. It strongly believes that a level playing field which ensures equal access to opportunities to everyone brings in the maximum benefits for the people, and hence, forms the basis of an equitable, inclusive and socially just society. In the last 4 years, over 1,51,000 children have been admitted in private schools across Uttar Pradesh. RWF has conducted workshops in 9 districts, in collaboration with the UP state government and UNICEF, training over 1700 private school educators.
RWF has fought several legal battles and through adequacy managed to use Right to Education (RTE) to enrol students from underprivileged backgrounds into private schools. The students are eligible for free education which is reimbursed by the state government. Additionally, the government provides Rs.5000 per student to support their needs for books, uniforms etc. RWF's cost comes to less than Rs.300 per child per year and for every Re.1 they spends helps unlock Rs.100 of public funds including from state as well as the centre through various welfare schemes. RWF plans to conduct the following activities using their core RTE budget. - Implementation - achieving 1 lakh+ admissions & developing a portal - Post Admission Support - Social Inclusion Program - training leaders in schools
