About the Charity
Adiwasi people in Jawahar live in poverty, hardships and superstitions. Jawahar is one of the oldest and most backward Municipal Council in Maharashtra. Awareness regarding education, health and cleanliness is very less. Their approach and point of view towards life had to be changed for their own development and this was the basic objective of the organization 'Shree Gurudev Bahuuddeshiya Samajik Sanstha' (SGBSS). SGBSS was founded in 2003 by Pramilatai Kokad and she has been working for Adiwasi people since 1986. She has devoted her life for the welfare and development of the Adiwasi people.
In the year 2007, SGBSS established 'Divya School' for the blind and the mentally retarded children. Total 118 students (116 residential) are a part of this school currently, 76 mentally challenged and 42 Blind Children. Pramilatai believes that education not only makes children more confident about themselves and their abilities but also opens the door to opportunities otherwise not available and makes children more aware of the world around them. SGBSS does not charge these students any fees. YVO channelized the donation received for the month of December 2017 towards equipping Divya Vidyalaya with 3 e-learning digital classroom systems and a full fledged audio system consisting of amplifiers, microphones which will be used for teaching, school functions and music classes. The equipment setup with the help of your donation will help impact the lives of about 76 mentally challenged and 42 Blind Children and sustainably empower them with education.
