Youth Empowerment The Ant took a new initiative to setup 'Unnati Skills Centre' on their campus in Rowmari in Chirang District of Lower Assam which conducts FREE 50-day 'employment focussed vocational skill' training programs, for the unemployed tribal youth below poverty line, which train them to learn a trade skill that will get them their first employment. Based on industry demand, one of the first employment opportunities identified is bed-side attendants, i.e. attending to any person confined to the bed, due to illness, age or any other reason, assisting them in their daily chores and assisting the nurses in simple medical procedures. The bed side assistant training program has components of lab practice sessions and internships along with training in Basic English, Basic Computer, Values and Work Attitudes. YVO donated equipments to help setup their training centre, i.e. a UPS backed projector, a laser printer and all equipments required to setup the practical lab of the Bed Side Attendant Course. Small Act, Big Impact? The Bed Side Attendance Course & Other Courses conducted at this Training Centre setup with the help of your Rs. 300 will help about 150 youth get their first employment every year.
