About the Charity
Established in 1987, Mukhta Jivan Society, one of the branches of the Society of the Helpers of Mary, is an NGO situated in Vehloli (Shahapur) working for the relief and rehabilitation of orphan children and women with HIV/AIDS and Hansen disease (Leprosy). Mukhta Jivan Society runs a school and a Care Home for the HIV/AIDS affected orphans and semi-orphans where children are loved, cared and counselled by skilled and dedicated Sisters and supporting staff. They also house a HOSPICE for full-blown HIV/AIDS women, most of who are widows and coming from economically backward places. Apart from this they also have 2 homes for senior citizens from slums, most of who are either paralyzed or bed ridden, are weak and feel lonely as their loved ones left them or are unable to take care of them.
Mukhta Jivan Society conducts Vocational training courses like fashion designing, beautician training, computer skills development etc. for these girls and care takers. Through these trainings these beneficiaries will be able to stand on their own feet when they are mainstreamed to the society. YVO channelized the donation received for the month of March 2017 towards equipping Mukhta Jivan Society with 8 computers, 7 sewing machines and 2 embroidery machines to conduct these vocational trainings. These 8 computers, 7 sewing machines and 2 embroidery machines donated with your Rs.300 will help impact the lives of about 30 orphan girls and 10 care takers every year by empowering them with skills to earn a living.
