About the Charity
Shivganga Samagra Gramvikas Parishad (SSGP) is a cohesive group of social entrepreneurs (rural and urban youth) successfully implementing a replicable sustainable model of "development movement" through Self-Reliance and Self-Respect in 1300 villages of the tribal districts of Jhabua. SSGP is actively engaged in organizing various activities like training of youth for village development which includes imparting motivation and organizing skills, team work, exposure and understanding of today's world, technical skills like rain water harvesting and low cost cultivation (organic farming). The major hurdle in the development of Jhabua region is the non availability of water for cultivation and other purposes as there is no provision to retain rain water. This has made lives difficult for the local Bheel and Bilala tribals as there is no other source of income. This ultimately gives rise to lack of education to children, lack of health care facilities, lack of awareness and other social evils.
SSGP has come about as an answer to Jhabua district's grave water problems. Gram engineers (local volunteers trained through technical training camps run by SSGP) with the support of villagers make a plan for rain water harvesting. Thousands of villagers from neighbouring villages take oath to offer 'Shramdaan', i.e. work voluntary for over two months before the monsoon and make water bodies for water conservation. YVO channelized the donation received for the month of June 2016 towards building of a water dam in the village of Balola Badi, Rama Block, Jhabua Disctrict, M.P. "Dam Construction in Balola Badi, Rama Block, Jhabua Disctrict, M.P." - This water dam donated with your Rs.300 will touch the lives of over 3600 tribal villagers, who will now resume cultivation activities, regain their source of income and in turn this the dam construction will set as a commendable example of 'Samagra Gram Vikas' (over all village development).
