About the Charity
PEHL' is a Not-for-Profit grass root level organization that works with government and private organizations with focus on implementing projects that benefit underprivileged, differently-abled children and other sections of society in need of supportive services. They help them deal with difficult circumstances by creating and supplementing educational, vocational and counselling programs. PEHL has focused on activities for impoverished and differently-abled children and aids in identification, diagnosis and home-based intervention for rehabilitation of children with special needs at destitute homes. PEHL is currently operational in Mumbai and Lucknow. The potential of children staying in these destitute homes is immense. However, they lack motivation and skills necessary to be successful and the standard of education at the local municipal school that they attend is abysmal. Without intervention, the likelihood that they do not learn and go back to society as unproductive members without proper education or skills is high.
Keeping this in mind, 'PEHL' provides supplementary educational aids at three destitute homes in Mumbai by deploying trained special education teachers who boost academic performance and overall self-confidence in these children. These destitute homes include Bal Kalyan Nagari, MDCH - Mentally Deficient Childrens Home & New Observation state-run Homes at Mankhurd, Mumbai. YVO channelized the donation received for the month of March 2016 towards equipping 'PEHL' with an interactive digital classroom loaded with educational content and a complete set of books and workbooks to go with the content. Interactive Digital Classroom for children with special needs This interactive digital classroom setup & books bought with your Rs.300 will benefit over 230 children by making education more intuitive and fun for them.
